Obscure applesauce

Filed under: Uncategorized — Lisette @ 8:53 am

Mm, a nice big bowl of applesauce. Mm, mm good.

I’m hoping to do things today like hang with Steph-san and get cosplay supplies. I wanna get started on the swords, cuz I finally figured out how I’m gonna make ‘em. Kuri-chan, I took over the making of Futsu and Ame, cuz I have the perfect idea of how to make them swordish AND have a pouch for your money in them! I r0xx0rz.

I finally have a copy of Amethyst Remembrance, which is the song Maria Wong sings in the Nagasaki arc of Yami no Matsuei. (I lost so many people with that sentence, I bet. The more specific, the fewer people know what I’m talking about.) I’m very pleased, because I’ve been looking for it for about a year. It’s times like this that I like KaZaA Lite, because the plain ol’ www didn’t have jack.

Speaking of music, there’s a few songs that I’ve assigned to various anime characters over the years. “#1 Crush” by Garbage is clearly Legato (Trigun). Really, it’s perfect. “Shine” (Hellsing ED), when cut in half, works very nicely for Subaru and Seishirou. (I noticed that one when I was frantically looking for lyrics to put in a wallpaper.) “Always” by Saliva also works well for those two. “Messiah” (Angel Sanctuary Soundtrack) makes me think of Sephy in a nightclub. Bizarre, I know.

And I have just been struck with inspiration for another wallpaper, so I shall depart.

Cosplay banana!

Well, peachy. I was hoping to be super evil, but no! I’m just crazy. (No link there at the request of the person running the quiz. S/he’s been getting major bandwidth usage.)

Today’s a lazy day. Not going anywhere, not doing anything. More snow. I cleaned up my folder on the hard drive (which means we need to defrag now) and started working on my Favorites list. It still takes 9.70 seconds to just load the list I have. ^^;; 206 links that aren’t sorted into folders. There are more in the folders. Gah, organizing that will be a pain… I’ll end up deleting most of them.

So now my room is half-clean, my hard drive folder is half-clean, and my Favorites list is half-clean. And I ate an egg. Yum.

And, because I love you, links to Yami no Matsuei cosplay. In Japanese. Have fun navigating.

Clover
Spring Roll 1
Spring Roll 2 (note the link at the bottom to more pics in this category, same for other Spring Roll links)
Spring Roll 3
Spring Roll 4
Endorphine
Precious (Riko cosplay!)
A Deadly Freedom
Escape

And that is all.

People don’t often
understand you - on one side, you like dressing up in animal clothes and
maintaining the mentality of a seven year old. On another side, you can
be serious when you want to, and you can give fairly good advice - but
playing with your kumagorou is much more fun!

All my shoes are broken. Pudding died while I was at my shrink appointment, which is actually okay because I had her with me. Valkyrie seems to be getting better, since she was running like mad on the wheel last night and woke me up at 1am. I made Dad promise to take me clothes shopping sometime this next week. I got Ryuichi on that test despite answering a total of ONE question with a Ryuichi answer.
Current mood: ambivalent.

Yes, I named a mousie Valkyrie. She’s the most gorgeous little thing; mostly pearl with some lilac hood markings and the most adorable Siamese points. She hates me. Won’t let me get anywhere near her. ^^;; Very Valkyrie-ish. She was very attached to Pudding and Sakura, though.

Didn’t sleep very well last night, but I slept for a long time, so I think it balanced out. Or something. Weather has been delightful lately. I always forget how much I like spring when it isn’t spring. There’s still plenty of snow on the ground, but it’s cool (not cold) and there’s a happy breeze that smells nice and is warm and pleasant. Sou, Haru wa ii yo…

A lot of people hit this blog looking for Furuba stuff. I feel a little guilty. The blog always shows up really high on searches (usually within the top 50 if it’s there at all, and often in the top 30) and I never have what they’re looking for. Dar. Why do so many folk look for Furuba stuff? Find one Furuba page, and they all link to each other. ^^;; Gah, so many hits… 15 so far today, and it’s only noon. Bunches of hits from places like Singapore and China. Where’s Slovenia? ^^;;

I’ve got a lovely bunch of feathers… diddley didi.

People think you’re
nice, because you’re calm, friendly and has a great smile. But that nice
exterior hides the heart of a manipulator. The end for you will justify
the means, and you have the brains to run a successful company, play
puppetry behind the scenes, and still be its number one main attraction.
You sly, devious dog, you.

I so wish I could look like him… *sigh* So pretty…

Yesterday Shinra died, and now I’m holding Pudding as she dies. Valkyrie is all alone now. I think she’s really depressed, too. I need to get some more mice for her. Maybe get a friend for ?chan while I’m at it.

I also got my class ring today, which pleases me. It’s a nice ring, all Slytherin colors. I was showing it off to everyone.

Argh, it’s no use. I was all cheerful earlier, but now I’m sad. Blarg. I even had funny stories. Ah well, maybe tomorrow. Sorry about not blogging yesterday, I ended up being somewhat busy.

Poor Pudding. I’m not sure if she’s in pain, but even if she is I can’t do anything. I feel like a horrible parent.

Current status:
Cold (-3)
Tired (-1)
Headache (-5)
Artistic Blank (-4)
Pissed off (-5)
Have a laptop (+5)
Found lotsa Furuba Winamp skins (+4)
No school (+7)
Room still not clean (-1)
Wearing wrist brace (-1)
Did homework (+2)

Comes out to a mood of -1, I think. Could be worse. My actual mood is like, -4. I’m not liking this headache and I’m really pissed at various family members. Dar. Shovelling suxxors. I think I have blisters. (I got into a bad mood right after the giant pile of snow collapsed back onto the driveway and sidewalk. Oooh, was I pissed.)

I would be working on my story right now, but I was boggled by the sheer massive scale of it. I started it wrong and have to re-write it, despite have at least two pages written. I write out a sentence or two a night. Two pages is a lot when that’s your writing speed. I don’t even know what I’m doing with the story, and it’s already boggling me. I might not write it at all.

On the other hand, I went through my hard drive looking for things fit to post and found a few. Mostly old stuff, but there’s some new-ish things that haven’t been posted before. Not sure whether to post that massive Gundam Wing thing again. I think maybe not. In other words, an update approaches.

I wish I could make a layout as pretty as this skin of Momiji.

Happy Girl in Snow!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Lisette @ 8:17 am

Snow, snow, wonderful snow, wonderful sparkly school-cancelling snow!

The actual snowfall comes to the porch. Drifts are higher than my head. Shovelling is, to put it lightly, difficult. I love it. I’m having to use the shovel as a catapult to toss the snow over the drifts. ^.^ Wai! Wai! Yuki da yo! Yukiyukiyuki!

So I’m out there shovelling away at Dad’s car, singing Simple and Clean, when the neightbor guy comes over with his snowblower and gets rid of the snow from the plow, which cut off like an hour of hand-shovel time cuz plow snow is icky and heavy and piles up really high. I was very happy and thanked him muchly. And then I realized that the snowblower is like the New Englander’s cotton gin: it does the work of more people in less time, and it’s just as economically important. (If we didn’t have the snowblower, how would we get to work? To the mall? Anywhere?!) This amuses me greatly.

I will do my best to get pictures of the snow, with people for comparison heights. Ganbatte ne!

I didn’t jinx myself yesterday! No school! Now I can actually prepare for school, since I didn’t do that yesterday. *innocently whistles and wanders off*

Snow softly falling
Snow from blower flies through air
Snow is gone from car.

Blarg, I am dead!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Lisette @ 8:41 pm

I love snow. Snow is pretty, it cancels school, it makes a neat noise as it falls, and it’s nice and cold. I can even put up with wielding the shovel every hour during the usual blizzards. I like bitching about the incompetence of the plows and how they pile up a foot of mush at the end of the driveway. What stinks is when it snows a foot or so at night and then the plows clear it in time for school.

Luckily, this blizzard is still making itself known in Kentucky. I will refrain from jinxing myself, but I’m positively cheerful. Snowfall of several inches to a foot at 3am on a school day is always very good. Sleet is wonderful. Freezing rain is delightful, as it’s even more pretty than snow (although much more dangerous and deadly). Speaking of which, I bet you southern folk have no idea what the difference between powder and flakes is. We’re like the Eskimoes. We have a bajillion ways to say “snow”.

I’m still twitching about cosplay. I want supplies so I can start on Kurikara’s armor… All I need is bendable screening and paper mache. And paint. But the paint can wait. Ah, cosplay… Speaking of Kurikara, I hope Elise-san can get home okay. Not that she’s going home tonight. But it is really messy out there… Dar.

I like chicken, I like liver, Meow Mix, Meow Mix, please deliver…

Cosplay babble extravaganza!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Lisette @ 12:18 pm

*yawn* G’morning all. What, it’s afternoon? Aw, heck. This is what happens when I stay up late at night plotting cosplay.

Yesterday I somehow ended up staring at YnM cosplayers doing the same people we’re cosplaying as. This made me go into a frantic rush of making my fan, which is about half-finished. Elise-san insists I need to make it wider. -_-;; It’s better than the dinky wad of feathers I saw one cosplayer using… Anyway, this got me into a rabid cosplay mood, and then I shared it with Neechan and Elise-san and Little Sis, and we all got together and did rabid cosplay research. We also decided to form an unofficial cosplay unit, in which Neechan sews, Little Sis does alterations, Elise-san does design sketches, and I do accessories. So now I’m bouncing off the walls wanting to fit Elise-san for her arm guards, which have several joints and should be fun and easy to make, although I need to talk to Mum about getting some parts for it. Little Sis’ tail will be easy, apart from making it poseable. Not quite sure where to get wire that long. I might take over Suzaku’s sword while I’m at it… She’s planning on making it out of cardboard. I have much grander schemes. Muah hah hah!

My one really anal-retentive point is Touda’s outfit, which is okay because we don’t really have a Touda. I want to go all-out on that, with vinyl and plexiglass and stuff like that. My ideal Touda outfit has a working heads-up display and built-in headphones. Although I think I can do the headphones even in a simplified outfit… *ahem* Anyway, you can see how anal-retentive I am about that.

So now I’m bouncing off the walls because I’m in charge of the stupid little things, which are what I take the most joy in. And I can make everything out of really cheap stuff! Like the handle to my fan is a duct-taped toilet paper roll. Perfect shape and everything. Ah, the joy of making things for cosplay…

My fan is rather heavy-duty for being made only of a few peices of felt, a lot of feathers, and hot glue. I like hot glue now.

Fruity Furuba Cookies

Filed under: Uncategorized — Lisette @ 10:13 am

Ingredients:
1pkg Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix
1 stick margarine
1/2 cup applesauce
1 apple (a sweet kind, like Golden Delicious)

Directions: Preheat oven to 375F. Mix cookie mix, margarine, and applesauce into a medium bowl. Sing “Teru Teru Momiji” while mixing well. Place rounded teaspoonfuls (or two finger’s worth) of dough onto cookie pan. Chop apple into 1/2-inch chunks and press a piece into each cookie. Eat leftovers, since the dough is safe (no egg!). Bake for 8-9 minutes. Eat and think of Furuba.

Hee. I like baking. And the idea for anime-centric cooking comes from Bishink. (They even have a Marauder receipe, my marauding HP friends!) Must give credit where it’s due. *takes out first batch of cookies* Wow, these are good! Very fruity. Mm, Furuba…

Steph-san: I think I’m a character in… Two stories? It’s amusing to see people write about me. What story are you in other than IDIMTUAIGA, Ficbusters, and my unnamed story?

*giggle* Their cheesecake was foreordained… *ahem* So, it appears that Dad is working on Laptop today! I am muchly pleased. And Neechan lent me Furuba, since it’s copy-protected and I can’t make a VHS copy. Unfortunately, the PS2 doesn’t like playing DVDs. The screen keeps going back and forth between too dark and too pale. I am sad. But! I have Furuba and Furuba cookies and soon a laptop! All is well with the world.

So today is an entry reminiscent of the entries from before I decided my brain was screwy. I am pleased by this. Random babbling about my current favorite thing, random cooking, random everything! I like being random.

Wanna revamp the blog again, but it MUST wait until I get off my lazy bum and revamp my page. Which means I must start working on revamping my peeji. Dar. Scanning, editing, more scanning, more editing, crying as I break the spines of my Saiyuki manga, more editing, then… the dreaded HTML.

Second batch of cookies should be done now.
